A QUESTION OF WAR & A RESPONSIBLE PLAN

March 27, 2008

Amherst, NY – Alice Kryzan, candidate for U.S. Congress in New York’s 26th district, today announced her plan to bring a responsible end to the war in Iraq.  Joining other candidates for the U.S. House, respected military professionals, and other national leaders, Alice Kryzan is the only candidate in the NY-26th to propose a concrete plan to end the war.  General Petraus and Ambassador Crocker are briefing Congress in the coming days on the progress of the war, and Alice Kryzan said:

“General Petraus and Ambassador Crocker are expected to tell Congress in the coming days that we should continue to ‘stay the course’ and leave 140,000 troops in Iraq indefinitely.  I couldn’t disagree more.  This debate shouldn’t be about if the surge is working; it should be about if the war itself is making Americans safer.

“That is why I and over 40 other candidate for U.S. House from around the country have joined together signing on to A Responsible Plan to End the War – I believe that we must immediately begin drawing down troops in Iraq while re-engaging our international allies to help Iraqis stabilize Iraq.

“I was opposed to this war from the beginning, and it is clear from the voters I am speaking with every day that Western New Yorkers want a responsible end to this war.  We need to end the war and refocus on our priorities here at home – creating good paying jobs, fixing our broken health care system, and improving our public schools.”

In response to the impending Congressional hearings with General Petraus and Ambassador Crocker, Alice Kryzan released a YouTube video with the questions she would ask them.  Additionally, Alice will be campaigning across the district asking voters to join her in calling for a responsible end to the war.  Alice Kryzan is an attorney, mother, and community volunteer who lives in Amherst with her husband Bob Berger.
